Employee screening for workplace adjustments

Employee screening for workplace adjustments

A confidential questionnaire or a telephone session can help you establish if a candidate is suitable for a particular job role. This can also help you identify any workplace adjustments that need to be completed before the employee joins.
Control measures for health risks

Control measures for health risks

A confidential consultation or health surveillance can help you identify the fitness of your employees and their suitability for different job roles. We will help you identify health risks at work and put appropriate control measures in place.

What is at Risk?

Respiratory Survelliance

If your MSDS sheets identify either a sensitiser or irritant to the lungs, then you will need to conduct respiratory surveillance (RS).

Welding, in particular, MUST have an RS 6 monthly no matter how good your controls may be; the HSE will expect this to be completed.

Use of Isocyanates requires the same 6 monthly RS, but in addition to this, you will need annual urine samples sent for testing in the laboratory to monitor the effectiveness of your controls.

Use of Flour will require 6 monthly RS also.

Skin Survelliance

Our hands are the most exposed part of our body and are very prone to contact dermatitis, etc.

We frequently touch our faces without realising it, which can cause facial dermatitis, etc,  especially if you're exposed to irritants or allergens.

All rashes are not work-related, and we can help you determine the cause.

We can also train your staff to become "Skin Assessors" as these tests should be conducted monthly etc.

Hearing Conservation Programme

The reason we are concerned about hearing damage is because it can create a social disability that isolates individuals and can lead to depression and it's attendant consequences.

This surveillance needs to occur on any persistent exposure >80 dB.

Between 80 -85  dB, the surveillance is done to identify susceptible individuals who may be more vulnerable to noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). Given that we are unable to identify susceptible individuals without testing their hearing, we would conduct audiometry annually for the first 3 years

Between 85-90dB, annually for the first 3 years and if no concerns are raised, every 3 years.

Above 90dB audiometry is completed annually.
